The Blessing Basket Project

What if you could buy a beautiful hand-woven product AND help the artisan who made it break the poverty cycle?

That’s what the Blessing Basket Project is doing with artisans in Ghana, Uganda, Madagascar, Bangladesh and Indonesia. Through their exclusive Prosperity Wage® model, artisans receive at least 2.5 times fair trade for their handicraft. This beyond fair trade model creates the working capital the artisans need to start businesses independent of the Blessing Basket. Those businesses enable them to start micro-businesses, educate their children, escape the sex trade and sustainably exit poverty. It’s not a hand out. It’s a hand up.

I’m delighted to work with The Blessing Basket Project to help the artisans sell their handiwork. By purchasing one of their products, you empower families around the world not just to exist, but to thrive. I use a tote as my briefcase and regularly give baskets as gifts.

I love a new feature they’ve added called, The Artisan and You. Each basket comes with the name and photo of the artisan who made THAT basket. You can even register the basket online and write to the artisan, half a world away. How cool is that?

I hope you’ll stop by my online Blessing Basket Shop and explore all the wonderful products available.
