Ways to Make a Difference
There are many organizations working hard to help those they serve implement positive changes in their lives. Here are a few of my favorites and ones I highly recommend:
Lift the Lid, Org. – Was founded by fellow writer Sara Goff and helps children in developing countries get an education to reach their future goals. I love the children’s band and scholarship program they’ve developed to keep street children in Manila motivated to stay in school. They support three different schools in Kenya, too, and have now added a children’s home in Tanzania.

Dignity Roasters – Delivers locally roasted and packaged coffee right to your door, to “Help the distressed earn what they need.” The coffee comes from Brazil (where my Dad was from) and it’s delicious.

Ten by 3 – Helps artisans around the world break the poverty cycle through their Prosperity Wages model. Their baskets and other products make great gifts—and make a difference. Each one even comes with a photo of the artisan who made it! I use my Ghana tote all the time.
